Industry Updates

Ending the Greenhouse Gas Reporting Program risks undermining life-cycle assessments, carbon removal investment and international trade. The program, run by the Environmental Protection Agency, requires oil refineries, power plants and other industrial facilities to submit annual emissions reports to the agency.

Brazil wants to help developing countries secure more funding for adapting to climate change, as a U.N. report estimated the world will need to spend $310 billion a year by 2035 to prepare for higher sea levels, hotter days and other conditions of a warmer atmosphere.

A new study finds climate risks are raising borrowing costs for developing nations, adding $62 billion in debt interest from 2007 to 2016. These climate-vulnerable countries face higher interest rates on their sovereign debt due to the financial risks associated with climate change.
