Green steel needs more buyer commitments. These companies are stepping up
To reach net-zero emissions, the steel industry will have to cut emissions 90 percent by 2050. E-commerce powerhouse Amazon and building technology company Johnson Controls are the latest to join a corporate coalition pledging to procure at least 1 million tons of “near-zero emissions steel” annually by 2028.
US sets new safety measures as deep sea oil drillers test new depths
The Bureau of Safety and Environmental Enforcement (BSEE) rolled out new rules for U.S. offshore drillers, as breakthrough technology enables them to operate under extreme subsea pressures and unlock billions in untapped oil reserves. The technology could unlock 5 billion barrels of previously inaccessible crude globally.
New UNEP Report Calls for Urgent Climate Action to Bridge Emissions Gap by 2035
The 2024 UNEP Emissions Gap Report exposes the discrepancy between climate commitments and tangible progress. With an increase in greenhouse gas emissions (GHG) in 2023 and a gap between current trajectories and climate targets, the report underscores the need for action to avoid climate consequences.
